Andries Jonker will resign as the manager of the Dutch national women’s team after the European Championships later this year, the Dutch football association KNVB confirmed.

Jonker got appointed as manager of the women’s team after Englishman Mark Parsons’ firing in August of 2022 and signed a contract until EURO 2025.

The KNVB announced Friday that they will not extend Jonker's contract past the upcoming EUROs.

“After an evaluation, it was decided that, after an extraordinary World Cup in New Zealand and Australia with a spot in the quarterfinals and elimination against the eventual world champion, and the upcoming European Championships in Switzerland, it is time for a new phase,” said the KNVB on their website.

Under Jonker, the Dutch women’s team reached the quarter-finals of the 2023 Women’s World Cup and dropped to eleventh in the FIFA world rankings. Under Parsons, Oranje were ranked fourth in 2022.

“We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude for the efforts of Andries Jonker during the past period,” said technical director Nigel de Jong.

“He has created a professional environment in which new players have been given an opportunity internationally. A period in which the game has improved over the last 2.5 years.

“We hope we can achieve a beautiful and successful conclusion with the EUROs. We have nothing but confidence in that.”

The Netherlands have been drawn into a tough group for EURO 2025 with reigning European champions England, France, and Wales the opponents during the tournament which will take place in Switzerland between July 2-27.
