Anderlecht twice came from behind to share the spoils with FC Porto in an entertaining 2-2 draw with FC Porto, ensuring David Hubert’s side remain unbeaten after their first five UEFA Europa League matches this season.

The Belgians delivered an early warning inside the opening 15 seconds when Tristan Degreef played Kasper Dolberg through on goal before the Dane dinked a neat finish over Diogo Costa.

However, Porto’s blushes were spared by the linesman’s flag and the Portuguese side would go on to break the deadlock in controversial circumstances.

Following a pitchside review, Morten Krogh harshly penalised Degreef for fouling Francisco Moura in the box, and Galeno confidently dispatched the subsequent spot-kick.

This served as redemption for Moura, who conceded a penalty four days earlier when Vitor Bruno's side succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Moreirense in a Taca de Portugal clash.

It came as a timely moment for the Portuguese side, who were just starting to find their flow following a promising start by the hosts. Leander Dendoncker looked to take moments into his own hands seconds before half-time but the Aston Villa loanee saw his effort parried to safety by Costa.

Momentum turned back in Anderlecht’s favour after the break and came within inches of restoring parity when Mats Rits saw his header cannon off the post.

But they combined to level the score moments later, as Rits intercepted Pepê and teed up Degreef to apply a clinical finish past Costa.

Porto pressed forward for a second in a bid to take all three points back to Portugal, as Galeno fired wide after cutting inside from the left flank.

A decisive second goal did come though, courtesy of Fabio Vieira, who made a telling impact within a minute of being introduced. The man on loan from Arsenal drifted into space on the edge of the box and rifled a shot past Colin Coosemans.

However, just when Porto looked to be inching their way to a hard-fought away victory, Hubert’s men maintained their unbeaten run in this competition when Francis Amuzu’s speculative strike took a hefty deflection and flew past Costa.

It would be enough to ensure the points were shared, as Porto’s away day woes in this competition continued. Bruno’s side have now only won one of their last 17 Europa League away games, with just one victory from the league phase of this competition.

Meanwhile, Anderlecht have not tasted defeat in any of their previous six matches.
