FC Midtjylland coach Thomas Thomasberg excluded Edward Chilufya from the squad for the match against Fenerbahce because the FCM player had overslept.

FC Midtjylland winger Edward Chilufya did not feature in the squad in Thursday's 2-2 draw against Fenerbahce in the Europa League.

The absence was explained after the match by coach Thomas Thomasberg, who said that The Zambian international had overslept and was not on time the day before the match against Fenerbahce.

Consequently Thomasberg, chose not to include Chilufya in the team.

"Chilufya unfortunately overslept on Wednesday, so he dropped out of the squad", said Thomasberg to Danish media.

"If you are not there on time the day before the match, you will not be in the match squad either. I've given him a hug, so there's nothing more to it."

"But it doesn't matter who you are, you have to be there the day before if you want to be part of the match", says Thomasberg.

"There is a consequence if you don't show up on time the day before a match. I think it sounds so brutal with punishment, but it is a consequence, because when you don't show up, you are poorly prepared."

"Chilufya hasn't done it during the time I've been at the club, so it came a bit unexpectedly. But his phone had run out of power when he had to get up", says Thomasberg.

The match between FC Midtjylland finished 2-2 which meant that both clubs qualified for the next stage of the tournament.
