There is only one new addition to the squad which begins its 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign - recent HJK arrival Ville Tikkanen, who will look to earn his first cap at centre-back.
Returning to the squad are goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo, defenders Adam Stahl, Leo Vaisanen and forward Fredrik Jensen, who all featured in the UEFA Nations League (UNL) campaign in late-2024.
Friis worked with Jensen at Augsburg, where the former was an assistant coach before taking the reins at Finland.
Valerenga full-back Noah Pallas, who was last capped in 2023, has also earnt a recall.
Extra cover in defence was required after Arttu Hoskonen was ruled out through injury.
Many of the experienced heads in the Eagle-Owls squad, including captain Lukas Hradecky, Jere Uronen, Glen Kamara, Joel Pohjanpalo, Robin Lod and top-scorer Teemu Pukki will all be involved.
Danish coach Friis will be aiming to end a six-match losing run which saw Finland relegated from UNL League B.
Winless in eight, the Finns last tasted victory on March 26th 2024 - 2-1 win over Estonia.
With Poland and either Spain or the Netherlands to come in World Cup qualifying Group G, it is vital that Finland get back to winning ways this month if they are to stand any chance of reaching Canada, Mexico and the United States.
They open their campaign on March 21st away to Malta. Kick-off at the National Stadium in Ta'Qali will be at 20:45 CET.
The second of two away trips to begin the Friis era will be at the Darius and Girenas Stadium in Kaunas, Lithuania, at 18:00 CET on March 24th.
