Real Madrid's elimination in the quarter-finals of the Champions League could end up defining the future of the coach, who has a contract until 2026.
The early departure opens a window of opportunity for the Brazilian Football Confederation, which has been dreaming of securing Ancelotti but had been forced to look for other targets because the Italian didn't want to leave the Merengue club before the Club World Cup.
In his second spell at Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti is going through a difficult season. The Merengues won the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, but lost the Spanish Super Cup, were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. They are, however, in the final of the Copa del Rey and occupy second place in LaLiga, four points behind leaders Barcelona with seven matches still to play.
In his years at the Santiago Bernabeu (2013 to 2015 and since 2021), Ancelotti has won three Champions Leagues, three European Super Cups, one Intercontinental Cup, two Club World Cups, two LaLiga titles, two Copa del Reys and two Spanish Super Cups.
