Silkeborg on Wednesday night booked their ticket for the final of the Danish Cup tournament, when they won 2-1 at home against Brondby in the second leg of their semi-final after the first leg had ended in a 3-3 draw. Silkeborg therefore get a chance to retain the trophy which they won by beating AGF last year.

Silkeborg's dream of defending their cup title lives on.

On Wednesday evening, Kent Nielsen's side won at home on their artificial grass pitch with 2-1 over Brondby in the second leg of the semi-final. Thus it ended with an overall victory of 5-4.

Jens Martin Gammelby became match winner, when the former Brondby player scored after 66 minutes after Mileta Rajovic two minutes after the restart had canceled out the home side's opening goal after 16 minutes.

Brondby failed to settle into their usual stylish stride in the first half, but after the break had looked like a team that could easily steal the ticket for the final. But when Gammelby hit the target, it all fell apart for the visitors.

In the final Silkeborg will face either FC Copenhagen or Viborg FF, who will decide their semi-final on Thursday.

The home side controlled the match in the opening phase and after Anders Klynge had hit the woodwork after nine minutes, Silkeborg took the lead after 16 minutes. Klynge provided a perfect through-ball for Callum McCowatt who scored easily past a helpless Patrick Pentz.

Two minutes after the break Sean Klaiber provided a hard pass for Mathias Kvisgaarden. Kvistgaarden failed to control the ball which, however, fell kindly for Mileta Rajovic who curled it past the reach of Nicolai Larsen.

But Silkeborg had the last laugh, when Clement Bischoff was unfortuante to direct a strong shot from the unmarked Gammelby into his own net.
