Bo Henriksen has been named Coach of the Year in Denmark for the first time in his career, says the Danish FA in a press release.

It has not gone unnoticed among his colleagues that Bo Henriksen has been very successful in Mainz since he took over the Bundesliga coaching job in February last year.

On Thursday, 50-year-old Henriksen was named Coach of the Year for his work during the past year.

It is the first time Henriksen has received the honour.

"I am very, very grateful to be coach of the year. It has been a wild and fun journey for the past 20 years. There are a great many people who have been on the journey, who ultimately have a huge stake in this."

"It is one of the big goals in life to make yourself noticed and excel in some way, win football matches and provide great experiences to people around you. Now I just have to go out and enjoy it", says Henriksen.

Thanks to Henriksen Mainz is currently in third place in the Bundesliga with a chance of qualifying for the Champions League in the next season.

Coach of the Year is awarded on the basis of a vote among all Danish coaches in the top divisions for men and women, as well as active Danish coaches abroad.

Brentford coach Thomas Frank came second in the vote, while Silkeborg's Kent Nielsen was third.

Last year the award went to Jacob Neestrup, who in 2023 led FC Copenhagen to the Danish championship and a cup title.
