It's been one hell of a week of sport with the Champions League and Australian Open in full force but what's happening over the weekend around the world?

Here's what our news editors will be watching this Saturday and Sunday:

Saturday, January 25th

Aryna Sabalenka vs Madison Keys - 09:30 CET

The weekend will start with the 2025 Australian Open women's champion being crowned, and while the pre-tournament favourite will be in the final, the first Grand Slam of the year could have a surprise victor.

Madison Keys has had perhaps the best run of her career to make it to her second Grand Slam final, beating 10th seed Danielle Collins and sixth seed Elena Ryabkina on her way to a semi-final with Iga Swiatek which she won in epic fashion, saving a match point in an 80-minute final set before coming from behind in the deciding tiebreak.

So good was she in that clash, hitting some jaw-dropping winners, that it feels like she has a genuine chance in the final despite the fact that her opponent will be someone who hasn't lost at the Australian Open since 2022 in Aryna Sabalenka.

The world number one has dropped just one set on her way to the final at this year's tournament and boasts a remarkable record of 33 wins in her last 34 matches at hard-court Grand Slams. If she beats Keys, she'll become the first woman this century to win three Australian Opens in a row.

You can be certain that she'll produce some top tennis in the final, and if Keys can play as well as she did against Swiatek, we could well have a match to remember.

Napoli vs Juventus - 18:00 CET

No European football has been working a treat for Napoli so far in the race for the Scudetto and after Juventus’ Champions League duty midweek, their freshness gives them an edge this weekend again.

Antonio Conte has worked his usual magic this season and the early signs have been promising for Napoli since losing star player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG. Whilst last season they looked to be struggling to cope with the demands of being the Serie A holders, a fresh-looking side with some smart signings has had renewed energy and belief - all masterminded by Conte.

Juventus meanwhile have been the draw masters, they may remain the only side unbeaten in Serie A but 13 draws have hurt their chances of mounting a title challenge.

Thiago Motta’s side will be looking to their impressive 2-0 win against rivals AC Milan last weekend as inspiration for Napoli as opposed to their underwhelming 0-0 draw with Club Brugge midweek.

Napoli are at a stage in their title push where they look like coming out on top by hook or by crook in every game. But they need to, as Inter are hot on their heels and the holders are not a team you want to give an opening to.

Manchester City vs Chelsea - 18:30 CET

The standout match in the Premier League this weekend sees champions Manchester City hosting Chelsea at the Etihad.

The season certainly hasn’t gone as Pep Guardiola would have hoped with the Sky Blues outside the top four after 22 rounds. Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea, on the other hand, are one place above City and exceeding expectations, albeit with an equally expensive squad.

Both these sides are coming off wins in the league with City demolishing Ipswich 6-0 last weekend. However, the English champions' midweek loss at PSG in the Champions League has piled the pressure back on them.

To boost things, City have made three signings already this month, including Egyptian ace Omar Marmoush. They’ll be hoping he can inspire them back to top-four form and beating Chelsea at home will be key to reestablishing the standards of a Guardiola team.

Chelsea, for their part, will have their own ideas and are quite happy being the top-four force less spoken about. Manchester City academy produce Cole Palmer will be especially keen to prove a point at the Etihad and get revenge for the round-one meeting between these two, which City won 2-0.

Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev - 09:30 CET

After a fortnight of action in Melbourne, there are just two men left standings. And in some ways, it is a pretty fitting final between the two highest-ranked players in the world.

Much like Sabalenka, defending champion Jannik Sinner was the heavy favourite to retain his title before proceedings even got underway. And in relatively straightforward fashion, the Italian has eased into the final, dispatching both Alex De Minaur and Ben Shelton in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.

The two-time Grand Slam winner is simply irresistible on the hard courts and is on a 20-match winning streak at the Australian Open and US Open. His relentless and vicious hitting from the baseline consistently proves to be too much for the rest of the field. But there have been some question marks over his fitness during the tournament, which will give his opponent confidence.

Alexander Zverev is a man in the finest form of his career. He is, without doubt, the best player on tour not to have won a Slam, having reached two finals and on both occasions missing out in five sets.

He continues to knock on the door of winning a maiden Major, and has also not been too tested on his way to the final. After a four-set victory over Tommy Paul in the quarter-finals, his opponent Novak Djokovic was forced to retire after the first set of their last-four clash due to injury.

The German certainly has the quality to be able to topple Sinner, which is also proven by the fact that he leads their head-to-head 4-2. But whether he has the nerve to play his A-Game in a match of this magnitude is a question he must answer.
