“First team player Andreas Christensen suffered a right soleus injury during Monday’s training session. He will be out for approximately three weeks,” the statement from the club read.
Christensen, who has been very injury prone throughout his career, has just made one appearance this season when he was in action against Valencia on the opening day.
After that game the Danish international was sidelined for a period of five months after having undergone surgery in relation to his Achilles tendinopathy issue which had been troubling him since last season.
Christensen made his comeback to the squad earlier this month but the Danish internationals’ return to the pitch will now be put on hold for three further weeks as he has suffered a fresh injury setback.
Allegedly there has been interest from the Premier League and Serie A during the transfer window but a potential move is now ruled out with the fresh injury.
