City could climb to the top of the Premier League table if they beat Everton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Guardiola seeks to continue their seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
He firstly gave some team news on a number of players, including Rodri: "No news. He is not ready for tomorrow. I don't know when he will be back."
"Maybe 50-60 minutes," he said about Mateo Kovacic. "He needs quality moment, quality time and quality minutes. It's important he is back step by step."
As for Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri, "They trained yesterday and they are much, much better. They are close to a comeback."
Praise for Grealish
He was next asked about Jack Grealish's impact at Everton.
"His impact has been massive since day one. He is playing well - it's what he wanted," the coach stated.
"The position we have with him, he is a lovely, unbelievable guy, but he didn't play for us for different reasons. He is back to real business. He is playing every game."
He also commented on how Grealish will miss out this weekend, with the City loanee not eligible to face his parent side, and said that if he had the power, he would change it so he could face the England international.
"They’re the rules. When I will be a CEO or president of a big institution in England, maybe I will change it," said the Spaniard.
"If he played it would be nice but I don’t have any opinion."
Haaland's form
City striker Erling Haaland is in the form of his life at the moment, scoring 21 goals in just 12 appearances for club and country so far this season.
So strong is his form that Guardiola says it's impossible for the Norwegian star to maintain it long-term.
"He is doing really well right now. But you cannot sustain this level always," he said.
"When he is going to drop, I will be there. We will be there. We have this passion to help the team, always have to sustain (each other) in bad moments.
"To go to the World Cup in the United States for him and Norway, it's really, really nice and important."
Finally, he spoke on youngster Nico O'Reilly who has a strong chance at making the England squad next year for the World Cup after featuring for City on a consistent basis.
"The games he has played are at a higher level.
"Young players always have to be careful of compliments because being stable mentally is the most important thing in modern football. A young player can have a career of 10 or 15 years but it is not possible when your mind is up and down.
"Nico is a really stable guy and that’s really important, especially going to the England squad with Thomas for the first time."
