Arsenal have made initial enquiries into Victor Osimhen’s transfer situation, sources have confirmed to Flashscore.

The development comes at a time when they continue to assess options for a potentially season-defining addition to their attack.

Arsenal have already shown plenty of ambition in this summer's market. Morgan Rogers was a top target before he completed a £117 million transfer to Chelsea, Vinicius Jr. was sounded out before he committed to a new Real Madrid contract, and - as we have reported - they have been waiting patiently to discover whether they could sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.

It is while considering how they can boost their front line that the possibility of signing Osimhen has been raised.

The Nigeria international is currently with Galatasaray, and sources have confirmed that initial discussions around his situation emerged as part of wider contact between Arsenal and Turkish clubs.

Arsenal recently dealt with Besiktas over the sale of Leandro Trossard, while the Gunners have also been in contact with Galatasaray this week regarding a potential deal for Gabriel Martinelli.

It is understood that those discussions around Martinelli have helped open the door to initial conversations about whether there could be a route for Arsenal to explore a move for Osimhen.

This was not believed to have been part of Arsenal’s original transfer plans. However, the landscape has changed as the summer window has progressed.

Arsenal are in a position where genuinely elite-level attacking signings are increasingly difficult to find. They want to continue investing in their squad, but the pool of players capable of genuinely improving a side that has just won the Premier League title is extremely small.

Osimhen would certainly fit the profile. The striker has established himself as one of the most proven centre-forwards in world football and would offer Arsenal another level of strength, depth and profile in attack.

His goalscoring record, physical presence and experience at the highest level would make him an obvious candidate if Arsenal were able to find a realistic route towards a deal.

Whether that opportunity develops into a serious transfer remains to be seen.

Arsenal are not the only European club to have been linked with Osimhen during this transfer window. Tottenham and Barcelona have both shown interest, while Manchester United have previously explored the possibility of signing the striker.

For now, this remains a very early-stage story, rather than a transfer that is close to being agreed. But the circumstances are interesting.

Arsenal are continuing to assess additions they can make to an already formidable squad, and their discussions with Galatasaray have potentially created an unexpected avenue towards one of the world’s most sought-after strikers.
