Goalkeeper

Marco Carnesecchi (Atalanta) 8.5

Atalanta remained top of Serie A with their fifth league win of a row, but the 1-0 victory against Cagliari was far from comfortable with goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi kept busy, but he rose to the challenge.

He kept out all eight shots that were taken on his goal to give his side a clean sheet and three points that could prove to be vital later in the season.

Defence

Lukas Kubler (Freiburg) 9.4

German full-back Lukas Kubler isn't exactly a household name but he stole the show on Friday night in the Bundesliga when played the role of poacher in Freiburg's 3-2 win over Wolfsburg.

Kubler scored the opening two goals in the match, both off corners before his side ran out into a 3-0 lead. That effort was enough to see him score the highest individual score of any defender across the top five leagues.

Damian Fernandez (Velez Sarsfield) 8.5

Moving over to South America where Velez Sarsfeild were crowned champions of Argentina over the weekend after their 2-0 win over Huracan. It was the club's first domestic title in 11 years.

Key to their historic victory was centre-back Damian Fernandez who scored the second of Velez's two first-half goals. Fernandez only played a handful of matches in the season and the strike was the 23-year-old's first and only goal of the season. He certainly saved that one for a special occasion!

Diego Coppola (Verona) 8.5

Verona claimed a crucial win in their fight to avoid the drop and it was centre-back Diego Coppola that got his side up and running in their 3-2 victory away to Parma.

After opening the scoring by heading home a corner five minutes in, the young defender then also made a number of crucial interventions at the other end of the pitch.

Javi Galan (Atletico Madrid) 8.6

In the last couple of months, Javi Galan has asserted himself as the first-choice left-back at Atletico Madrid and, in that time, his team have gone on an incredible 11-match winning run which was extended on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Getafe.

Galan was superb once again for Diego Simeone's title-chasing outfit making eight tackles, two interceptions and three clearances.

Midfield

Ismaila Sarr (Crystal Palace) 9.2

It was always going to be impossible for Crystal Palace to replace Michael Olise but Ismaila Sarr is at least making the Selhurst Park faithful miss the Bayern Munich man a little less at the moment.

The Senegalese winger scored two of his side's three goals against Brighton and set up the other, and now has five goal contributions in his last five games.

Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter Milan) 9.0

Inter made a huge statement in the Serie A title fight on Monday night by smashing an in-form Lazio side 6-0 away from home, and the standout player in a field of impressive performances was Hakan Calhanoglu.

Along with converting a penalty, the playmaker almost got his first assist of the league campaign and made three key passes in the hour that he played.

James Maddison (Tottenham) 9.1

James Maddison had a day to remember on the south coast of England as Tottenham stormed to a 5-0 victory away to Southampton on Sunday evening.

The 28-year-old got the party started after just one minute when he opened the scoring with a cool finish, and just before the end of the half he then bagged his side's fifth by firing home from the tightest of angles after a lovely turn.

Son Heung-Min (Tottenham) 10

Son Heung-Min set up Maddison's second goal as well as Tottenham's fourth of that game, and that was after the South Korean forward had made it 2-0 with a lethal half-volley.

With a bit more luck, he could have had even more goals and assists too as he showed why Spurs should do everything they can to get him to agree to a new contract.

Attack

Santiago Gimenez (Feyenoord) 9.7

Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez is still working his way back to full fitness after missing two months through injury, and he made it clear against Heracles that he's almost at his best again.

The Mexican scored a hat-trick in just 15 minutes in his side's 5-2 win, opening the scoring after half an hour and bagging his third goal just before the break in a proper poacher's masterclass.

Alexander Isak (Newcastle) 8.9

From one man who made his name in the Eredivisie to another, Alexander Isak is looking like one of the best strikers in the world let alone the Premier League at the moment.

The Newcastle man scored his third goal in three games by heading in from close range before setting up his team's fourth and final goal in their win over Leicester.
