The Danish Football Disciplinary Authority on Thursday decided to uphold the red card that reserve keeper Thomas Mikkelsen received after the end of the "New Firm" derby between Brondby and FC Copenhagen on Sunday.

Brondby has an extensive goalkeeper problem before Friday's Superliga match against FC Nordsjaelland.

On Tuesday, the club's attempt to have the red card for reserve goalkeeper Thomas Mikkelsen in the "New Firm" derby against FC Copenhagen reversed was rejected by the Danish Football Disciplinary Authority

As a result, Patrick Pentz and Thomas Mikkelsen are both suspended for the upcoming match.

In addition, third goalkeeper Gavin Beavers has been injured, which is why one of the Under-19 goalkeepers Mamadou Jalloh or William Sonne-Schmidt could suddenly be granted an unlikely chance to shine.

After Sunday's match against FC Copenhagen, Thomas Mikkelsen was headbutted by FCK keeper Diant Ramaj, but according to referee Sandy Putros, Mikkelsen also acted inappropriately in the situation and was therefore given a red card.

"The Football Disciplinary Authority notes that the referee of the match, after reviewing Brondby IF's protest and video material, has stated that the video material does not provide a basis for changing the assessment on the field after the match."

"The referee of the match thus maintains his assessment that the Brondby IF player is guilty of inappropriate behavior and, on that basis, maintains the red card."

Brondby will face FC Nordsjaelland on Friday at 18.00 CET.
