After only picking up two points in the last three rounds of the regular season, AGF got off to a strong start in the championship playoffs when they at home in their temporary stadium in Vejlby recorded a 2-0 win against FC Nordsjaelland.
AGF thus consolidated their third place with 39 points and they are now only six and two points respectively behind FC Midtjylland and FC Copenhagen, who have both played one game less.
Jens Fonsskov Olsen, coach of FC Nordsjaelland had for the game chosen to put regular keeper Andreas Hansen on the bench and give the 20-year old William Lykke a rare chance to shine.

But that proved a disastrous decision as Lykke was at fault at both AGF's goals. After three minutes Lykke wanted to punch away an inswinging corner, but Lykke only managed to flick the ball into the head of Fredrik Tingager who scored from close range to give the home side a dream start.
The opening goal created a scenario where the team from Farum clearly dominated possession most of the time, while AGF adopted a more direct approach and managed to create more chances.
Ten minutes before the break Lykke made his second fatal mistake of the game, when he couldn't hold on to a weak shot from Mads Emil Madsen and Tobias Bech was left with an easy job to poke the ball home from close range.
The visitors struggled to create clear-cut chances for the remainder of the match and their misery was compunded, when Araphat Mohammed was sent off for a reckless challenge on Felix Beijmo shortly before the end.
