After nearly a year on the sidelines following a serious knee injury, the 19-year old Swedish midfielder Roony Bardghij returned to action on Tuesday in a friendly for FC Copenhagen against Hvidovre.

The Swedish Under-21 international suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in the beginning of May last year and been sidelined ever since.

The match against Hvidovre lasted 45 minutes and Roony Bardghji played 35 minutes of them. As he left the field, he high-fived everyone and hugged Sporting Director Sune Smith-Nielsen.

"It was great to be back after a long rehabilitation. So I'm incredibly happy to get minutes today and we just have to keep going."

"I have a lot of energy. I am so happy. It's a big day for me and my family. They were also here to watch the match. I believe that good things will come in the future in the Danish Superliga.

"It was a long rehabilitation, so there were many days when it was hard work, and it is clear that it is great to be back and test your body. It was a great redemption", says Roony Bardghij to FCK TV.

FC Copenhagen will play theri first game in the Superliga Championship Playoffs on Monday against Randers
