The headlines
The USA men’s national team made history on Wednesday after they beat Bosnia & Herzegovina 2-0 in Santa Clara to win three games at a single World Cup for the first time, despite playing the last 30 minutes with ten men.
Folarin Balogun opened the scoring thanks to some quick thinking, before he was controversially given a straight red card for a raking challenge on Tarik Muharemovic.
It didn’t affect the USA much, however, as Malik Tillman scored a wonderful free-kick from outside the box to settle the tie.
USA will take on Belgium in Seattle on Monday for a place in the quarter-finals after Youri Tielemans inspired his side with two goals as they beat Senegal 3-2 after extra time, thanks to a stunning late fightback.

Habib Diarra and Ismaila Sarr had put the African side in control only for a late implosion to help the Red Devils back in the game.
Second-half substitute Romelu Lukaku got one back in the 86th minute before Tielemans scored a header three minutes later to set up a thrilling finish.
A late penalty was given to Belgium thanks to VAR, much to Senegal’s consternation, which Tielemans netted. With the ball rolling into the net during the 125th minute, the latest goal in World Cup history saw his side into the next round.

Earlier in the day, England also produced a late comeback to avoid an upset against D.R. Congo.
It started poorly for England, as Brian Cipenga took advantage of space in the box to score. Goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi produced some fine saves to allow his nation to dream, but Harry Kane had other ideas.
A header from the Bayern Munich man levelled the scores before he produced a sublime turn and finish into the top corner to win the game 2-1 for his nation.
Despite a tepid and panicked first half, Thomas Tuchel’s changes made the difference as Anthony Gordon picked up both assists for Kane, who is now in contention for the World Cup's Golden Boot.

Player of the day
With the old guard struggling to fire for Belgium, up stepped Youri Tielemans to produce a captain's performance and drag his side to victory.
Before the second hydration break, it didn't seem he would be our player of the day. Frustrated with Leandro Trossard, he let rip, gesticulating wildly at the Arsenal winger before the two came shoulder-to-shoulder. Teammates had to separate them, but it only seemed to inspire Tielemans forward.
He scored a rare header and then the decisive penalty to earn himself an 8.6 Flashscore player rating.

Goal of the day
Kane has an interesting knack for looking very tired throughout a game, and throughout much of the game against D.R. Congo, he looked beleaguered.
But, four minutes from time, he showed he had a lot more energy left after a long season to keep England going at this World Cup.

After being fed by Gordon on the edge of the box, he made space with three defenders for company, took another touch before blasting the ball into the top corner.
It was a moment of quality from arguably the world's best number nine to settle the tie in what was England's first comeback win in a World Cup knockout game since the final in 1966.

The Tour de France starts this weekend in Barcelona, and the team of Lotto-Intermarche had a little surprise for some of their riders, gifting them some Belgian shirts ahead of the big game.
