There will be a lot of pressure on the Americans to produce a stronger performance on the pitch. Having finished third in their first-ever appearance back in 1930, they have only gotten past the round of 16 once in their other nine attempts.
The USA did not play qualifiers due to their co-hosting status. Of the 16 venues being used for this World Cup, 11 of them are based in the third-largest country in the world.
With MLS continuing to flourish, the USL taking historic strides, and the women's game still as strong as ever, the US will be hoping to finally announce themselves on the international stage.

Where will the USA play their World Cup games?
All three of the USA's group games will be on the west coast.
Their first and third matches will take place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, CA. Also known as Los Angeles Stadium, the venue holds 70,000 seats. The city's two NFL teams, the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams, call the stadium home. The LA Bowl, one of several college football bowls, is also held at the venue each year.
The second group game the US will play is in the north-west part of the country at Lumen Field in Seattle, WA. The venue will be referred to as Seattle Stadium during the competition. There are currently three tenants that call Lumen Field home: the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL, the Seattle Sounders from MLS, and the Seattle Reign in the NWSL. The seating capacity is set at 69,000.
