Holger Rune is set to play competitive tennis again after nearly a year on the sidelines when Denmark take on Bulgaria in the Davis Cup on 18/19 September.
The Danish tennis star suffered a complete proximal rupture of his Achilles tendon during his semifinal match against Ugo Humbert at the Stockholm Open in October last year. He underwent surgery shortly after the incident and has been in an extensive rehabilitation process ever since.
His Davis Cup comeback against Bulgaria will be a very special occasion for the 23-year-old Danish tennis star.
"I am incredibly excited to be back in action. Being out for 11 months - and the fact that it’s taking place on Danish soil - makes it even more special. Danish fans are fantastic."
"I’ve missed the matches, the crowd, and the feeling of competing, so I’m really looking forward to stepping onto the court next Friday," Holger Rune says to dr.dk
