The Norwegian needed just over two hours to beat his Serbian opponent, winning the contest 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.

22:23 CET - As we wind down the day's play at Roland Garros, Alex Zverev - the second seed - is still on course for a big run in Paris after beating Tomas Machac 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.
One Czech star is through to the next round as Karolina Muchova, a 2023 finalist, is through after a comfortable victory over Kamilla Rakhimova in a 6-2, 6-2 win.
22:09 CET - Tommy Paul has not got past the quarter-final stage at the French Open since 2020, but he is looking good at the 2026 edition, with a straight-set victory over Lorenzo Sonego.
The pair traded 47 winners in the entertaining contest, with the US native winning 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.

21:48 CET - Despite a scare, Mirra Andreeva has made it into the third round of the French Open after a three-set victory over Marina Bassols. The Russian dropped the first set 6-3, before battling back in style to win the contest 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Andreeva will have to improve on her 43 unforced errors if she is going to go far in the slam.
21:14 CET - A five-set thriller has come to an end at Roland Garros, with Joao Fonseca prevailing against Dino Prizmic.
The Brazilian struck 42 winners in the victory as he came from two sets down to win 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 in three-and-a-half hours.
20:30 CET - It's been a tough year for Jasmine Paolini, and it's got a little worse this evening as she has been shocked by Solana Sierra. The 13th seed has been seen off in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at a grand slam where she was a finalist in 2024.

20:04 CET - Sorana Cirstea is the next person to make it into the third round, with a comfortable win over Eva Lys.
The Romanian 18th seed sent down 16 winners with Lys helping her opponent out with 24 unforced errors in the 6-3, 6-0 victory.
19:42 CET - Novak Djokovic overcame a spirited fightback from home favourite Valentin Royer to seal his place in the third round via a 6-3, 6-2, 6-7(7), 6-3 triumph on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
The Serb, chasing a 25th Grand Slam title, hit 46 winners against his French opponent while converting 78% of points behind his first serve, and will face a mouthwatering clash against either Dino Prizmic or Joao Fonseca next.
18:19 CET - On the men's side of the tournament, Czech star Jakub Mensik has come through a five-set thriller to outlast Mariano Navone 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(11) in four hours and 41 minutes.
Mensik, who looked to be running on empty throughout the closing stages, held his nerve during a marathon 103-minute deciding set to eventually claim victory on his seventh match point.
Portugal's Nuno Borges and experienced Spaniard Pablo Carreno-Busta have also advanced to the third round in Paris.
17:55 CET - World number two Elena Rybakina has been dumped out in a stunning second-round upset at Roland Garros, with the Kazakh producing an erratic display to lose 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(4) to Ukraine's Yuliia Starodubtseva.
The Australian Open champion, who was one of the favourites for the women's title in the French capital, struck an astonishing 71 unforced errors (!) across the three sets, allowing Starodubtseva to capitalise and secure the biggest win of her career.

17:23 CET - Women's 15th seed and recent Madrid champion Marta Kostyuk has stretched her incredible winning streak on clay to 14 matches after a hard-fought 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-3 victory over Katie Volynets.
The Ukrainian was forced to find her best level after dropping the opening set, but she fired down an impressive 60 winners to set up a third-round meeting with Switzerland's Viktorija Golubic.
16:20 CET - It has been a tough afternoon in the Parisian heat for Andrey Rublev, but the world number 13 is into the next round at the French Open, after he prevailed in four sets against Camilo Ugo Carabelli.
The Russian dropped the second set in surprising fashion, but was able to win 6-1, 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(3) in just over three hours.
Marie Bouzkova is also through after a straight-sets win over Britain's Fran Jones.
16:02 CET - We have an upset at the French Open! The 29th seed, Jelena Ostapenko, is out after being defeated by Poland's Magda Linette in three sets.
Nine double faults and 40 unforced errors haunted the Latvian number one in the 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 loss, allowing Linette to set up a third-round meeting against compatriot and Paris favourite, Iga Swiatek.
15:43 CET - Italian Open champion Elin Svitolina has marched into the next round with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Spanish player Kaitlin Quevedo.
With that win, the 31-year-old has now claimed victory in her last eight matches and has lost just two of her 12 on clay this season. She's very much a contender for the title in Paris as she seeks a long-awaited first Grand Slam title.
15:11 CET - Karen Khachanov is the latest man to seal a third-round berth, with the 13th seed battling through a competitive clash to see off Argentina's Marco Trungelliti in four sets, 7-6(5), 5-7, 6-1, 7-6(4).
A two-time former quarter-finalist at the French Open, Khachanov won 72% of points behind his first delivery to set up a fascinating match with Jesper de Jong.
14:53 CET - World number 78 Peyton Stearns has progressed to the third round at Roland Garros for the third time in four years after an impressive 6-4, 6-0 dismantling of Daria Snigur.
The 24-year-old American converted six of 11 break-point opportunities, while hitting 22 winners to set up a meeting with 11th seed Belinda Bencic.

14:10 CET - Thiago Agustin Tirante has produced a shock in the men's tournament, with the Argentine coming from a set down to defeat 21st seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-1, 6-3.
The world number 60 fired down 12 aces during the match, as well as winning 84% of his service games en route to a maiden third-round appearance at a Grand Slam.
13:47 CET - Women's third seed and four-time former champion Iga Swiatek is safely through to the next round after a relatively routine 6-2, 6-3 victory against Czechia's Sara Bejlek.
The Pole, who is still hunting for her best form after a topsy-turvy season so far, wasn't at her best against Bejlek, but managed to win 71% of points behind her first delivery to prevail in 94 minutes.
Swiatek faces the daunting prospect of a potential third-round clash with nemesis Jelena Ostapenko, who takes on Magda Linette later this afternoon.

13:16 CET - On the men's side, Jesper de Jong has advanced to the third round after an emphatic 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Italy's Federico Cina in just an hour and 50 minutes.
De Jong, the only remaining Dutchman in the French Open, hit 31 winners against his outclassed opponent, and will take on either 13th seed Karen Khachanov or Marco Trungelliti in the next round.

12:39 CET - Swiss star Belinda Bencic is the first winner of the day in Paris, with the 11th seed battling through a tight opening set to see off Caty McNally 6-4, 6-0.
The 29-year-old, who converted an impressive six of seven break-point opportunities against McNally, advances to the third round of Roland Garros for just the third time in her career, where she'll face either Peyton Stearns or Daria Snigur.

We’re just a couple of hours away from today’s first batch of matches, with men's 13th seed Karen Khachanov opening proceedings on Suzanne-Lenglen against Marco Trungelliti, while Belinda Bencic comes up against Caty McNally.
First up on Court Philippe-Chatrier, four-time former champion Iga Swiatek takes on Czechia’s Sara Bejlek at 12:00 CET, and that match is followed by Elina Svitolina’s second-round meeting with Spain's Kaitlin Quevedo.
Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina faces Yuliia Starodubtseva on Suzanne-Lenglen, while the remaining two matches on Court Philippe-Chatrier see legendary Serb Novak Djokovic take on home hope Valentin Royer, and in the night session, second seed Alexander Zverev faces a tricky test against Tomas Machac.
