Undoubtedly the biggest of those shocks was qualifier Chwalinska reaching the final. The Polish player's run will go down in history, and has changed her life forever. She's risen from 114th to 21st in the world as a result of it, and if she keeps playing like she did in Paris, she could well stay at the top of the game.
The last word of the day has to go to Andreeva though. She's been widely expected to win a Grand Slam for a long time now, and with the pressure of winning her first now off her shoulders, the sky is the limit.

16:54 CET - Given that it was her first Grand Slam final and one she entered as the heavy favourite, you'd have been forgiven for expecting the pressure to get to Andreeva today, but she handled it incredibly well.
The teenager served well and upped her game for the big points, winning most of the break points on her opponent's serve and saving most of the break points on hers.

The 19-year-old has sealed the first Grand Slam title of her career in dominant fashion, taking charge in the second set to seal a 6-3, 6-2 win over Maja Chwalinska in under 90 minutes.
She becomes the youngest French Open women's champion since 1992, and the third-youngest women's Grand Slam winner of the 21st century.
16:10 CET - Mirra Andreeva has taken the opening set 6-3 after 43 minutes!
The eighth seed has dealt superbly with Maja Chwalinska's tricky game style, battling through a competitive opening six games before finding another gear to capture the first set.
Andreeva fired down 14 winners and converted four of seven break-point opportunities, and is now the heavy favourite to pick up her maiden Grand Slam title at the age of 19.

It's the second year in a row that the pair have reigned victorious at Roland Garros, and the third major that they've won together.
11:45 CET - The men's doubles final is underway at Roland Garros, but the main event today is, undoubtedly, the women's final, which starts after 15:00 CET. It's going to be a fascinating contest with 19-year-old Mirra Andreeva up against surprise finalist Maja Chwalinska.
The latter has battled her way to the decider from qualifying - the first person to ever do so in the history of the prestigious Paris event. On her way, she's tackled some tough opponents, too, including Zheng Qinwen, Diana Shnaider and Anna Kalinskaya.
Andreeva will similarly be eyeing her first Grand Slam title today, and she'll be hitting the clay in red-hot form, having dispatched Marta Kostyuk, Sorana Cirstea and Jil Teichmann all in straight sets in her last three matches.
