Griekspoor, the fourth seed at the Mallorca tourney, beat Ethan Quinn in straight sets in a second-round rematch of their French Open meeting in May. In the quarter-finals, another French Open foe awaited Griekspoor after Gabriel Diallo sent Laslo Djere home with a 2-1 win.
The 41st-ranked Canadian could not muster a great start against the recovered Griekspoor, as in France, reaching break point just once in the first set en route to a 6-4 loss.
Mistakes slipped into Diallo's game with four double faults in the second set, which Diallo started with a lost service game. The Canadian youngster was unable to impress in his second service points, winning just five of 14.
Griekspoor, who continued his tactic of aggressive net play, cruised towards the end of the match by not handing Diallo a single break point and ending the match on his second match point with a backhand winner to win the second set 6-4.
Auger-Aliassime next
Griekspoor's next opponent will be Felix Auger-Aliassime, who beat Hamad Medjedovic in three sets and will face the Dutchman for the first time since 2022, when the Canadian knocked Griekspoor out of his home tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch.
