Clara Tauson booked her ticket to a possible rematch against Polish star Iga Swiatek when she showed inspiring form in the WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal by beating Ukraine's Yuliia Starodubtseva 6-3, 6-0 in the third round of the tournament.

Tauson is now ready for the round of 16, where a potential rematch from this summer's Wimbledon awaits against Poland's Iga Swiatek.

The World No. three plays on Saturday night, and if she advances, she will be Tauson's opponent in the next round.

At this summer's Wimbledon, Swiatek, who won the tournament, faced Tauson in the fourth round in a match where the Dane was clearly weakened physically.

However, she has long since put those problems behind her, and on Friday, she opened the match strongly in the first set. She was confident in her serve, and her forehand in particular proved a great weapon.

At the same time, Starodubtseva struggled to land her first serve, and the Dane took advantage of this to put pressure on her several times.

This led to several Danish breaks, and ahead 5-3, Tauson secured the first set with a strong service game.

In the second set, Tauson's dominance became more evident.

Tauson played extremely well and drove the Ukrainian from side to side.

Even during her own service games, Starodubtseva looked helpless. The Dane dominated every ball, while the Ukrainian became more and more powerless.

The forehand was still a deadly weapon, and Tauson used it to great effect to book her ticket for the next round
