After booking his third round ticket on Saturday after a lengthy encounter against Argentinian Francisco Comesana, Holger Rune said the surface wasn't up to standard.
"It was difficult for me to move on this court. I think there were a lot of holes in the court, so I was a bit scared for my ankles at the start.
" I don't think the court was ready to play on, and it's not about there being bad bounces or anything else. I was afraid of my ankles at the start and so we are close to the French Open. So I don't really want to take any chances, but I found solutions. I can't change the court in the middle of the match, so I had to find solutions to win", said Holger Rune to TV 2 Sport.
Also Clara Tauson was very critical of the surface, when she crashed against Russian youngster Mirra Andeeva on Monday in the fourth round of the tournament.
"It looked like a beautiful court and the atmosphere in the stands was spectacular but once you got to play on it, it was really poor. I think its insane that we had to play on such a bad surface in the fourth round of such a big tournament", said Tauson who also had problems with the courts during training sessions.
"I trained on it the first few days where it was impossible to move on it because there were so many holes and it was dangerous to play in there. Therefore, we had to stop playing points on that court."
"So when I saw the program yesterday (Sunday, ed.) after my match, I thought it was a bit heavy to have to play there. Its a beautiful place to play but the court is really poor", said Tauson.
