The topseeded Holger Rune paved his way to a place in the quarter-final at the ATP 250 tournament Stockholm Open when he won 6-4, 6-4 against the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics.

After an even start, Holger Rune gave evidence of why he is ranked 44 places higher in the world rankings than the Hungarian, and in several sequences, the Dane was decidedly superior.

Rune broke the Hungarian twice in a row and was able to serve out the first set, but Fucsovics broke back and subsequently reduced the deficit to 4-5.

In the end, however, Rune got the job done, with a great Danish serve putting an end to the first set.

The Dane, cruising on confidence, also began the second set by breaking Fucsovics. The set dragged on a bit, with the duels getting longer and tougher.

However, Rune played with great stability and with great concentration in the decisive duels, allowing him to serve home the set after an otherwise great fight from Fucsovics.

Rune is now to face the Argentinian Tomas Etcheverry in the quarter-final.
