Clara Tauson spurned two match points as she crashed out of the WTA tournament in Strasbourg after losing to Brazilian contender Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-3, 4-6, 5-7.

The Danish tennis player Clara Tauson did not have the best preparation for the grand slam tournament French Open.

In the Dane's last warm-up-tournament, the WTA 500 tournament in Strasbourg, she suffered a defeat in the first round to Beatriz Haddad Maia from Brazil.

The Dane, who is ranked 21 in the world, won the first set as planned, but ended up losing the match 6-3, 4-6, 5-7.

It was largely an even affair, with the two players enjoying their momentum at different times of the match.

In the decisive third set, the Brazilian had the better start to the set but Tauson fought back before missing two match points.

Haddad Maia, who is ranked 23 in the world, did not. On the Brazilian's first opportunity to secure the win, Tauson made yet another unforced error in what was in total a very disappointing performance from her.
