The 19th-seeded American is the champion in Melbourne after a superb 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 victory over world number one Aryna Sabalenka (26).

As for Madison Keys (29), the American is targeting her maiden Grand Slam title, having lost her only previous major final to Sloane Stephens (31) at the US Open in 2017.

The 29-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable run to the final, seeing off Elena Rybakina (25) and Elina Svitolina (30) before an epic three-set triumph over Iga Swiatek (23) in the semi-finals.
