A busy midweek of European action is behind us, but that doesn't mean the football stops! The weekend is packed full of great games, especially on Sunday, as well as some top-level tennis and American football. But what should you watch?

Our news editors have gone through the sporting calendar and picked out the must-see events from Friday evening through to Sunday. Here are our latest Weekend Highlights:

All weekend

Paris Masters semis and final

After a drama-filled week in the French capital, the Paris Masters draws to a conclusion over the weekend, as a combination of top seeds and surprise names look to win the final Masters 1000 event of the year.

The prestigious tournament has seen a spate of major upsets, with Novak Djokovic, Alex de Minaur and Frances Tiafoe all losing on a dramatic Wednesday, while Alexander Zverev’s reign as world number one began with a second-round defeat to Lorenzo Musetti.

Those early exits have led to a wide-open tournament in Paris, as France's Luca van Assche prepares for a maiden Masters 1000 semi-final against third seed Ben Shelton.

Meanwhile, in the bottom half of the draw, second seed and heavy favourite for the title, Carlos Alcaraz, takes on Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals later on Friday. Victory for the American would see him secure the final qualification spot for the ATP Finals at the expense of rising Spaniard Rafael Jodar.

Former three-time major finalist Casper Ruud and Portugal’s Nuno Borges contest the remaining quarter-final, with the Norwegian targeting a first semi-final appearance since Geneva in May.

It promises to be an intriguing couple of days in the French capital, so make sure you tune in!

#11 Notre Dame vs #1 Miami (FL) - 01:30 CET

The matchup between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the top-ranked Miami Hurricanes is just one of many headlining an unreal slate of college football games this weekend.

Miami have won the last two matchups (2025, 2017). However, they'll be without superstar wide receiver and Heisman hopeful Malachi Toney after he will be undergo surgery for a high ankle sprain. So Notre Dame has a perfect opportunity to knock off the nation's best team at home under the lights.

The Fighting Irish boast a phenomenal defense, giving up just 13.4 points and 236.3 yards (ranked #1) per game this season. They'll be going up against the No. 2 offense as the Hurricanes average 534.9 yards per game and 47.3 points - no other team in the entire nation averages more than 45.0.

Miami have won all eight of their games this season, while Notre Dame is coming off a crushing loss to #9 BYU for their first of the season. Another loss for the Fighting Irish could spell the possibility of being knocked out of the College Football Playoffs for the second year in a row when all is said and done.

But the Hurricanes look to maintain their top-ranked status after receiving the No. 1 spot in the College Football Playoff selection committee's for the first time in program history after last week.

Manchester United vs Aston Villa - 17:30

A hugely under pressure Manchester United take on an improving Aston Villa this weekend, in a game that could be make-or-break for Michael Carrick heading into the international break.

United ended a nine-match winless run with a stunning comeback win against Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday, as Matheus Cunha helped ease the pressure on Carrick. But things can turn very quickly in football, and a bad result against Villa would erase all the good work they did in the second half at Old Trafford.

Many expected Carrick to be sacked already, with the club sitting 17th in the table. But he has been given a stay of execution. Is the inevitable being delayed, or can he lead a turnaround from the brink?

Villa are coming off the back of defeat to Bournemouth in the EFL Cup, a draw against Fulham in the Premier League, and a 3-0 loss to Barcelona. However, there is a lot of positivity around the club, with Unai Emery managing to turn their fortunes around following a slow start to the campaign, as they are now unbeaten in five in the Premier League.

Signed from Chelsea in the summer, Nicolas Jackson has been a man in red-hot form, with five goals in eight Premier League games. He has also scored three times in Europe. He will be their key man heading into this contest.

United always seem to be under the microscope these days, and this meeting will have Premier League fans everywhere tuned in. Make sure you are too!

Inter vs Como - 18:00 CET

The 2026/27 Serie A campaign is proving to be one of the best in recent memory, with the current top four all looking capable of taking the Scudetto in May. Two of those contenders are going to battle on Sunday evening as champions Inter host in-form Como in a game that you simply can't miss if you like good football.

Como showed on Wednesday night when they equalled the record for the biggest win in Champions League history that they are one of Europe's most exciting teams, and that they are much more than a promising team for the future. They are the real deal already and after winning their past four games in Serie A too, they head to the San Siro in seriously good form.

Cesc Fabregas is also emerging as one of the best coaches in Europe and if anyone could mastermind a win away to the champions, it would be him.

However, it is worth remembering that Inter have beaten Como in every league meeting between the sides since the 1950/51 season.

A shock defeat in the Milan derby wouldn't have helped their confidence heading into this huge test, but that was Inter's only defeat this season in Serie A and the holders head into the clash two points ahead of Como in the league.

One major concern for Inter is where the goals will come from. While Nico Paz and Anastasios Douvikas are scoring for fun for Como, Inter's front two, Marcus Thuram and Francesco Esposito, are struggling.

Ultimately, Como are the form side and might be the favourites if it wasn't for Inter's imperious record against their visitors and the fact they are champions for a reason; write this Inter side off at your peril.

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona - 21:00 CET

The weekend's football really peaks on Sunday evening with a clash between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, the top two in LaLiga at the time of writing.

Hansi Flick's Barcelona side were the early form team, not just in Spain but around Europe, during the opening stages of the season, going on an 11-match winning run across competitions. They were then halted by PSG in the Champions League before losing the Clasico two weeks ago at home, which crucially tightened things up at the top of the table.

Conversely, Diego Simeone's Atleti have gone somewhat under the radar after an up-and-down first month of the season. However, they find themselves second in the standings, thanks to their seven-match winning streak, which has them top of the form charts in Spain.

Powered by Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, Barca have scored the most goals after 11 rounds, and by some distance (46), while Atleti have conceded the fewest (eight). It all means this is set up for a classic matchup between a brilliant attack and a parsimonious defence. And that's not to mention the summer's Julian Alvarez saga, which adds a healthy dose of soap to this Spanish opera.

There's plenty of recent sporting history between the sides, too. Remarkably, they met not twice but six times last season, with Barca winning both LaLiga clashes. However, Atleti came out on top in their two-legged Champions League and Copa del Rey ties, even winning 4-0 on one occasion.

There's a good chance that Real Madrid will be level on 30 points with Barca by the time these two go head-to-head in the Metropolitano on Sunday evening, which will only add pressure. Whatever way it falls, the winner will be top of the table heading into the international break!
