It was a matter of win but at what cost for the San Francisco 49ers, who have seen two more key players pick up ailments following their win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

The 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy suffered a shoulder and a toe injury during the game. Despite that, he was able to tough it out during his team's 17-13 win at home.

San Francisco coach Mike Shanahan confirmed to reporters on Monday that he is a doubt for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, with the toe issue being a bigger problem.

"Not sure, has to see how it heels and how the week goes on it," said Shanahan when asked about his starting quarterback's status.

Should Purdy be unable to take the field, the 49ers will look to former New York Giants quarterback Mac Jones in the game.

Purdy completed 26 passes from 35 attempts for 27 yards, along with two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's match.

However, the 25-year-old is not the only player to have picked up an injury in the game. Shanahan confirmed that George Kittle will be out for several weeks. The tight end suffered a hamstring injury during the second quarter of the contest. At that point in the game, he had managed 25 yards from four receptions plus a touchdown.

Also injured in week one was Jauan Jennings, as the wide receiver had a shoulder problem during the fourth quarter. This was after he had two catches for 16 yards. According to Shanahan, Jennings' MRI came back clean, though he will still undergo a CT scan.

The 49ers' 2024 season was ravaged by injuries as they slumped to a 6-11 record, conceding the third most points in the NFC. However, they will look to make it two wins to start 2025 as they head to New Orleans next sunday to face the Saints.
