Atalanta are now unbeaten in five games in Serie A (SA) (W4, D1) after comfortably dispatching Parma 4-0 at the New Balance Arena, with La Dea now sitting just four points off the European places

After letting their lead slip and falling to defeat against Athletic Club in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, Atalanta were hoping to hit back here.

The home side wasted no time in pursuing the opening goal and were presented with an opportunity to do so on the quarter-hour mark when Giacomo Raspadori was brought down just inside the box by Mandela Keita.

From the spot, Gianluca Scamacca made no mistake, burying his finish into the bottom-left corner.

Atalanta continued to probe after taking the lead and went two up midway through the half when Charles De Ketelaere broke into the Parma box before turning and picking out fellow midfielder Marten de Roon, who expertly swept home his first league goal of the season.

The visitors remained on the back foot for the remainder of the first half and were lucky not to head into the interval 3-0 down, but Ederson flashed his effort wide when capitalising on the loose ball in the box.

It was a subdued start to the second half with Atalanta seemingly happy to sit back and invite Parma to push forward. The away side, however, struggled to break through the hosts’ strong rearguard.

Instead, Rafaelle Palladino’s men looked the much better side and went close to putting the game out of sight just after the hour mark. However, Raspadori’s drive from distance was tipped over the bar by Edoardo Corvi

The third goal did arrive on 73 minutes when Nikola Krstovic broke through the Parma defence before laying the ball on a plate for Raspadori to sweep into an empty net and register his first goal for the club since his move from Atletico Madrid earlier this month.

Krstovic then completed the scoring deep into stoppage time, rounding off an easy afternoon claiming all three points. They travel to Como for their next Serie A game while Parma, who have won only one of their past six games, sit 14th.
