In Flashscore’s weekly column, we look back at the key moments from the past seven days in the NBA. In this edition, the New York Knicks were crowned NBA Cup champions, the Atlanta Hawks continued their poor form, while Cooper Flagg made more history.

Team of the Week: New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are the standout team this week, due to their NBA Cup triumph.

After a semi-final win over the Orlando Magic, OG Anunoby led the way in the final with 28 points, as the Knicks sealed a 124-113 victory over the San Antonio Spurs to get their hands on the NBA Cup for the first time.

It was also their first title in 52 years, when they won the Championship. Of course, though, while they will surely be pleased to get their hands on some silverware, their eyes will be firmly on bigger things and reaching the NBA Finals this summer.

The Knicks certainly look good too, and will be favourites to get out of the Eastern Conference. They have begun to find their feet after a sluggish start to the season and have won 12 of their last 14 games to sit in second place in the division.

Underperformers of the Week: Atlanta Hawks

Despite going into the season with high expectations, it has been a really tricky season for the Atlanta Hawks.

With star man Trae Young suffering from injury issues, Kristaps Porzingis consistently being MIA, and Zaccharie Risacher struggling for his best, the Hawks have a 15-15 record, sitting in ninth.

Atlanta have suffered three straight losses this week to the Charlotte Hornets, San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls. Their loss to the latter was an absolute thriller, with a whopping 302 points being scored as the Bulls won 152-150.

They still have a chance to turn things around, though, especially with Young having just returned from the sidelines.

Player of the Week: Cade Cunningham

Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham continues to get better and better as a player and is establishing himself as one of the very best in the league.

In his three games this week, Cunningham had 32 points and 10 assists in a win against the Boston Celtics, 29 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists in an overtime defeat to the Dallas Mavericks, and 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a thrashing of the Charlotte Hornets.

They currently sit at the very summit of the Eastern Conference, and the 24-year-old is a large reason for that. He is averaging 9.2 assists per game this season, behind just Nikola Jokic (10.7).

Play of the Week: Dennis Schroder

Sitting slumped at the bottom of the Western Conference before the game, the Sacramento Kings claimed a much-needed win over the Houston Rockets, and it was Dennis Schroder who came up clutch for his side with an overtime game-winner.

Story of the Week: Cooper Flagg

Despite the Dallas Mavericks suffering a 140-133 loss to the Utah Jazz last week, Cooper Flagg had reason to celebrate, as he became the youngest player in NBA history to score 40+ points.

The sensational rookie put up 42 points, breaking LeBron James' record, which stood for 22 years.

"Obviously, we didn't win. So, it's tough for me to want to be happy or any of that," said Flagg. "But obviously, it's a success."

Flagg has been in an irresistible form of late in a Dallas team that are basically writing the season off. There aren't many positives for them, but this generational talent certainly is.
