Santander signed a five-year, $92.5 million deal before the start of the 2025 season. He only played in 54 regular-season games last year, slashing .175/.271/.294 with six home runs and 18 RBI.
The 31-year-old and former All-Star for the Baltimore Orioles will be entering his 10th season. Santander has posted 161 home runs and 453 career RBI throughout his career (800 games) with a .241 batting average.
The Margarita, Venezuela native, made his big-league debut with the Orioles in 2017, where he spent the first eight years of his career. Toronto signed him to the biggest contract of his career after he posted 44 home runs and 102 RBI during the 2024 season.
Since then, he hasn't seen much field time for the Jays. Last season, he suffered a left shoulder subluxation and continued to deal with a lower back issue.
