Team Denmark were close to triumphing against their Swedish neighbors, but in the tenth and final end, Sweden took home the victory on the ice at the Winter Olympics on Friday afternoon.
The score was 5-5 before the final end, where the Swedes grabbed the decisive point with the very last stone, which was enough to secure a 6-5 victory.
It was the Danes' second defeat at the Winter Olympics.
On Thursday evening, they won against Japan after an extra end, while on Thursday at noon, the Danes gave up against big favorites Canada.
However, Friday's Nordic showdown opened with a positive Danish start as the Danes took a 2-0 lead, thanks to great play from skipper Madeleine Dupont.
However, the Swedes hit back, and the Danes were under pressure in the fourth end and fell behind 2-3, before they managed to restore parity in the fifth end.
With the last Danish stone in the sixth end, Madeleine Dupont averted a major setback, although Sweden nevertheless took the lead again.
The Danes had a stone right in the middle of the house in the seventh end and tried to get two points with the last stone. The plan backfired, and the Danes were left to settle for a 4-4 scoreline.
The Swedes took the lead again, but Madeleine Dupont again worked her magic with the last stone in the ninth end to bring balance back to the scoreline.
The Swedes kept their cool when the match was decided in the tenth end to push the stones out of the house, securing the third Swedish victory out of three possible.
Denmark will be in action again on Saturday evening, where they will try to defeat South Korea.
