World Championship finalist Gian van Veen will miss Night 7 of the Premier League Darts in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, the PDC announced this on Thursday morning.

According to the press statement, Van Veen has been diagnosed with kidney stones. As a result, the Dutchman currently has to stay in hospital, making a trip to Dublin impossible.

"Right up until the very last moment, my biggest goal was to step onto that stage tonight, but sometimes things are just out of your control," the "Giant" wrote on Instagram.

Van Veen also shared an update on his condition: "The pain started on Sunday morning, but it got much worse after I returned home from Göttingen. I’ve been in hospital since yesterday morning (Wednesday) and I hope to be able to go home either today or tomorrow."

For Premier League record winner Michael van Gerwen, who would have faced his compatriot in the first round, this means a bye into the semifinals and a guaranteed two points. For 'Mighty Mike', who himself missed Night 3 due to health reasons, these are his first points since Week 2. Most recently, he was eliminated in the opening round four times in a row.
