Rogle had surged up the table in recent rounds thanks to five wins in a row, which meant they went to Gothenburg with the chance to take first place from Frolunda.
But the home side not only broke the deadlock in the eighth minute thanks to Max Lindholm, but really stamped their authority less than three minutes later when Nicklas Lasu made it 2-0.
The visitors responded well through Josh Dickinson, only for Christian Folin to restore the two-goal cushion midway through the second period, before the points were sealed with just over eight minutes of the match to play through Ivar Stenberg, making it 4-1.
Rogle actually had 10 more shots on goal than their opponents, but 30 saves from Tobias Normann meant he was the thorn in the visitors' side, allowing Frolunda to earn a ninth win from 11 matches so far
A third win in a row has seen Skelleftea climb to third place - they were tested early on by strugglers HV 71, before cruising to an 8-3 victory at home.
Lars Bryggman responded to Riley Woods giving the visitors the lead, and though Frans Haara put Skelleftea ahead early in the second, Jonathan Ang tied the game once more.
But from then on the hosts dominated, beginning with three goals in under four minutes - one from Oliver Okuliar and two from Oscar Lindberg, and though Woods scored his second to reduce arrears, Mikkel Aagaard quickly responded to make it 6-3 by the end of the second period.
Lindberg completed his hattrick and Okuliar completed the rout with his second of the night to round off the win that moves Skelleftea to within a point of Rogle, while HV 71 remain bottom, four points from safety.
Keeping HV 71 company in the bottom two are Orebro who led at the start of the final period, only to throw it away and end up with nothing in a 2-1 loss to Farjestad, who move up to seventh.
But tying with the match in Skelleftea for the highest-scoring of the night was the one in Gavle, where hosts Brynas remain hovering above the bottom two after their seventh defeat this season, this time to Linkoping, for whom Robin Kovacs and Ty Rattie each scored twice in a 7-4 win.
Djurgarden's fine start to their SHL return continues as they came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Leksand to remain in the top six. Successive losses for Leksand keeps them just outside the Playoff places.
Moving into fourth are Timra, who also came from behind away from home to beat Malmo 2-1. It's two wins in three now for the inconsistent Timra, while the Redhawks have lost three on the bounce.
Slipping down to fifth are Vaxjo, whose fine start is well and truly over as they lost a third game in a row, this time 5-2 away at champions Lulea, whose successive wins have put them safely inside the top 10.
