Our NFL experts give their picks for Week 9's Thursday night primetime showdown between the Baltimore Ravens (2-5) and Miami Dolphins (2-6) as both teams look for their third win of the season!

The Ravens are 7.5-point favourites over the Dolphins, with the over-under set at 51.5 - the third-highest of all the games this week.

Miami will be donning their regular home uniforms. Baltimore will be rocking their all-whites - a gigantic swing and a miss for the NFL on a night two teams that rock purple and orange could've been on full display for Halloween.

Now, let's get into who our experts picked before we break down the game!

Eric (77-42-1): Ravens 37-20 Dolphins

Lamar Jackson is back for a Ravens team coming off arguably their best win of the season. The defence held the Bears to 16 points - the fewest they've scored all season, no team has held them below 20.

As for the Ravens, they fired on all cylinders. Keaton Mitchell finally got involved in the offence and succeeded. Huntley drove the offence up and down the field. And their 30 points were tied for the third-most all season.

Miami is coming off an emphatic win themselves after beating the Falcons 34-10 - but will their defence hold up against Lamar Jackson at full strength? I highly doubt it.

Paul (77-42-1): Ravens 30-17 Dolphins

Lamar Jackson is finally back and it’s gonna turn the entire Ravens team around. They showed improvement already against Chicago, even with Snoop Huntley, and I can only see them continuing that upward trajectory.

Miami played a very good game in Atlanta over the weekend, which has to be acknowledged. But against a fired-up Lamar Jackson, however, I see this Dolphins defence struggling mightily.

Give me Jake Hummel’s Ravens!

Miguel (75-44-1): Ravens 32-21 Dolphins

In this match, we will see two teams in desperate need of improvement. However, Lamar Jackson’s return should be decisive, leaving the Ravens to be the heavy favourites for a reason.

With 15 days to go before travelling to Madrid to play the first NFL game in Spain, the Dolphins will want to put on a good show in front of their fans and send them home ready for a good Halloween, but this is going to be one difficult task against a Ravens team that may have finally found their footing.

Henri (67-52-1): Ravens 34-31 Dolphins

An interesting matchup in Thursday Night Football. The Dolphins and Ravens both had a terrible start to their respective seasons, but now want to salvage what they can in the second half of the year.

The Ravens, in particular, were considered huge Super Bowl contenders and will do everything they can to somehow make the playoffs. My prediction is a narrow victory for Baltimore in a brutally close match as both offences duel it out.

Game breakdown

This will be Jackson's first game in almost a full month as he was recovering from a hamstring injury. Before he sustained the injury, the Ravens were the No. 1 scoring offence in all of football.

Since then, they scored 13 total points in two games before entering their bye week with a 1-5 record. They brought in Tyler Huntley, who started last week, and led the Ravens offence to 30 points - back to their comfort zone.

As for Miami, losing Tyreek Hill is, of course, a blow, but others have stepped up in his place - specifically, running back De'Von Achane.

With Hill healthy, Achane put up 236 rushing yards and three touchdowns in four games. But in the four games without Hill, Achane has improved to 293 yards on the ground with four total touchdowns and has averaged six yards per carry over the past three weeks alone.

His speed, along with wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who has put up at least 95 receiving yards in three of the past four weeks, are going to be the crucial pieces if Miami wants to keep up with Baltimore's offence.

On the flip side of the ball, the Ravens finally had themselves a good week on defence, but they're still in the bottom 10 of the league and bottom five in forced turnovers, as are the Dolphins.

They're going to need to really showcase on Thursday night who is going to come out of this game with the hot hand and who will slowly fade into the top 10 of next year's NFL Draft.

Only three teams in the history of the NFL have made the playoffs after a 2-6 start - 2022 Jacksonville Jaguars, 2020 Washington Commanders, and 1970 Cincinnati Bengals

Miami's defence had yet to hold a team to less than 27 points this season until their win against a Falcons offence led by veteran Kirk Cousins - his first game since being benched at the end of last season.

So it could very well be a game of who has the most stops in the end.

Injury Reports

The Ravens are heading into the game with nobody on the injury report and will be at *full strength (*doesn't account for those on injured reserve).

As for Miami, tight end Julian Hill and safety Ashtyn Davis will be out tonight after not practicing all week. The team also placed cornerback Storm Duck on injured reserve

Linebacker Bradley Chubb is questionable after being a limited participant in practice this week. Others that are questionable include wide receiver Dee Eskridge, cornerback Jason Marshall Jr., and safety Ifeatu Melifonwu - all of whom were full participants in practice on Tuesday.
