Two sides who will be aiming for a top half finish at least this season got their campaigns underway with an entertaining draw in Gothenburg.
Brommapojkarna had already come under pressure by the time they drew first blood just eight minutes in, when Mads Hansen's floated cross was headed down by Lukas Bjorklund, and somehow David Andersson in the Hacken goal let it sneak underneath his body.
Right on the stroke of half-time, an Amor Layouni cross was almost turned into their own net by the BP back line, a moment which foreshadowed what was to come in the second half. Two minutes in, Layouni crossed for Adrian Svanback to volley home the equaliser at the far post.
With 20 minutes to play, the home side turned the match on its head, when another cross from the left wing evaded everyone bar Layouni on the right, and his fierce ball back across clattered against the body of Jordan Simpson and in for an own goal.
But Hacken failed to see the game out - in the 89th minute, the home side failed to clear their lines as the Bromma Boys desperately tried to turn the ball goalwards, before Oliver Zanden laid it back for Andreas Troelsen, whose 25-yard swerving effort flew into the net to level the scores.
The 2025 campaign was a season of two halves for both these sides, but with contrasting fortunes, as Goteborg came from obscurity to take a place in Europe, while Elfsborg tailed off completely after occupying those same European spots early on.
That was not why Elfsborg were starting this campaign with a new manager, Bjorn Hamberg, as he took over from Oscar Hiljemark, who joined Pisa in Serie A. All the same, the home side made a winning start under their new boss.
They had to wait until just before the hour mark for the opening goal, but it was worth the wait - Simon Olsson's ball found Taylor Silverholt, who beat the offside trap, chested it down, turned and volleyed it into the bottom corner.
The second goal came just seven minutes later, when the home side's corner was cleared out to the right, where Olsson curled in a cross for Julius Magnusson, whose header had just enough on it to beat Elis Bishesari and go in off the post.
IFK Goteborg were wasteful with their opportunities, creating just one shot on target across the 90 minutes, not doing enough to prevent an opening day defeat without scoring. For the Boras side, it's just a second win in 13 Allsvenska matches.
The opening round of the season ended with another game in Gothenburg, where home side GAIS were looking to start well in a campaign that will see them play European football, but they were dealt a blow before kick-off, as Sweden international Gustav Lundgren was injured in the warm-up.
However much that affected them, the Mackerels were always going to be in for a tough afternoon against a Djurgarden side that were on a mission to regain European adventures. So it proved, as the only goal came midway through the second half.
The Iron Stoves won possession in the middle of the GAIS half, allowing Oskar Fallenius to thread a delightful through ball which cut apart the home defence and was collected by Patric Aslund, who coolly rolled home the finish.
However meaningless the table is after one game each, it is notable that the champions, Mjallby, are rock bottom, if only on alphabetical order. Djurgarden and Elfsborg are among the six sides to begin their seasons with a win.
