Paris Saint-Germain maintained their perfect start in Ligue 1 by beating Lens 2-0, equalling their all-time record by scoring in a 35th successive Ligue 1 game at the Parc des Princes in the process.

With manager Luis Enrique absent from the dugout for the first half after a bicycle accident over the international break, PSG made a slow start with the first chance of the game falling to Lens, as Florian Thauvin was teed up for a free-kick that Lucas Chevalier batted away.

Such is their ruthless nature, the European champions netted with what was their first attempt, as Bradley Barcola, fresh from scoring and assisting for France on international duty, curled home from the edge of the box - his fifth goal involvement in four league matches against Lens.

Unfortunately for the hosts, after injuries to Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue on international duty, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also had to come off injured on the half-hour mark, but his replacement, Ibrahim Mbaye, almost made an immediate impact, forcing Robin Risser to save with his legs from close range.

The goalkeeper also prevented Goncalo Ramos’ flick from going in just before half-time, as he kept his team in it.

However, just six minutes of the second half had gone by before PSG doubled their lead as the same two players combined again. Vitinha released Barcola, and with the winger in such good form, he took a shot from distance that flew into the bottom corner.

Lens tried to respond through Thauvin, whose effort was again pushed away by Chevalier. Ultimately though, PSG won a seventh straight head-to-head fairly comfortably, but suffered yet further injury disappointment as Lucas Beraldo also had to be stretchered off.

Lens did not disgrace themselves, but still come away empty-handed as they miss out on a first set of three successive league wins since February 2024.
