Tottenham Hotspur are putting themselves back in the picture for Omar Marmoush, with sources indicating a fresh enquiry is being prepared to gauge Manchester City’s stance.

Spurs continue to explore attacking reinforcements for the new year and are trying to maintain high ambition.

An approach for Antoine Semenyo has already failed, prompting the club to cast the net wider as head coach Thomas Frank pushes for added goal threat.

Tottenham made contact regarding Marmoush last summer while in discussions over a deal for Savinho, and sources suggest a similar situation is now developing once again.

Marmoush’s profile is seen as a strong fit for Tottenham’s needs, with the Egyptian forward offering the direct attacking output the club are seeking.

Currently on international duty at Africa Cup of Nations, Marmoush has found starts limited at City this season and sources indicate preliminary explorations around his situation have begun.

However, those close to the City end of negotiations believe any deal would be extremely difficult to complete mid-season, with the club reluctant to weaken their squad while still competing on multiple fronts.

Marmoush only joined them one year ago in a €70million move from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Savinho and Oscar Bobb are currently viewed as more likely candidates for a potential exit but the Marmoush situation will soon have more clarity, publicly, we understand.
