Danish league leaders AGF on Sunday were left to settle for a goalless draw against Brondby in their two-horse race with FC Midtjylland for the Danish title. Brondby still haven't scored in a match in 2026.

AGF - Brondby

AGF, backed up by a sell-out crowd at Ceres Park Vejlby, began confidently and took control of proceedings in the opening part of the game. They also came very close to taking the lead after 20 minutes, when Frederik Emery launched a mazy run through the Brondby defense only for his strong close-range effort to bounce off the crossbar into safety.

But Brondby gradually dug themselves back into the match with a massive physical effort in midfield from Daniel Wass, while Nicolai Vallys began to show his creativity, which allowed Brondby to fashion a couple of opportunities where Marko Divkovic and Jacob Ambaek had chances to put the visitors ahead.

Just before the break, AGF came close to awarding Brondby their first goal this year when Janni Serra headed the ball towards his own net, but Eric Kahl saved on the line, while Brondby's players appealed for the ball being over the line.

AGF gained much better control of the match in the second half, and when Gift Links from the edge of the box tried to curl the ball into the far corner, Patrick Pentz came up with a terrific save in the Brondby goal to keep the game scoreless.

With five minutes left in regular time, Pentz again denied the league leaders another win when he produced a superb save to prevent Tobias Bech's curling free-kick from hitting the net.

Viborg - FC Midtjylland

After their disappointing exit in the Europa League 1/8 final against Nottingham Forest, FC Midtjylland suffered another blow to their ambitions of winning at least one trophy this season when they had to settle for a 1-1 draw away against Viborg.

"It was just one big fight", said FC Midtjylland's Mads Bech Sorensen after the game, and that was a fair description of the 90 minutes where there wasn't so much creative build-up to impress the spectators, who were instead treated to a raw physical fight on a pitch that also didn't provide superb conditions for spectacular football.

Eight minutes into the second half, Mike Tullberg's outfit took the lead when Junior Brumado squared a delivery across goal where the on-rushing Valdemar Byskov slid in to steer the ball past goalkeeper Lukas Lund in the Viborg goal.

However, the home side never gave in and were rewarded for their resilience after 69 minutes when Mads Sondergaard turned provider for Dorian Junior, who remained composed and coolly curled the ball past the reach of Midtjylland keeper Elias Olafsson to restore parity.

The visitors thought they had stolen all points when Viborgs Srdjan Kuzmic made an own goal after a corner by bundling the ball over the line shortly before the end, but VAR showed that Mads Bech had touched the ball with his arm in the sequence leading up to the goal, and so FC Midtjylland failed to take advantage of AGF's goalless draw against Brondby.
